We have lived in our house for nearly seven years, now. Our kitchen has had very busy wallpaper, since we moved in. At first I thought that it was tolerable, since it required little decorating. But after a few years, the busyness of the pattern really made me want to have something more subtle. The best aspect about the busy pattern of the wallpaper is that no one would need coffee after viewing that wallpaper. It would keep you wired for the day. On Labor Day, dear hubby and I painted the kitchen a really pretty shade of green.

After picture:It is so soothing to walk into my kitchen, now. It has become a very calming place for me. I find it so amazing that a can of paint can make a room full of charm. It really is the cheapest way to give a room a makeover! Blessings!

Thank you so much for your comment on my blog! Congratulations on a new baby! How exciting :) I can't wait to read your homebirth story. I may have a homebirth someday, too, if we ever live in a place with access to legal midwifery.

That's a nice soothing color! I really like it.
So peaceful! I love it!
It looks BEAUTIFUL Christine!! I love it! Happens to be almost the same color that's in my living room...I agree, very soothing!
I love it!!!
Oooooo, it looks so nice!!! What is it with crazy wall paper!?! Love the new look!!!

What a difference! That wallpaper was really something... :) I wonder if it is because you are pregnant that it finally bothered you to the point where you painted the kitchen? When I am pregnant, busy patterns (fabrics, ties, etc) make me nauseous. Did you have to take the old wallpaper off, or did you just paint over it?
I love it, Christine! We're thinking of painting our kitchen almost the exact same color! We don't have busy wallpaper, but everything in our house is cream or white. Apparently they painted it that way to sell it and it's quite boring. Your kitchen looks beautiful!
Thank you, for all of your kind comments about the kitchen. I absolutely adore it, now!

My house used to be all flat paint, cream-colored with wallpaper in the bathrooms, and kitchen, and an ugly border in the dining room. Since we moved in, we have painted the living room a warm beige, the bedrooms are each a different color, the kitchen is green, and we took the ugly border down and painted the dining room white. (We are still deciding on what color we want the dining room to be.)I grew up in a house with flat white paint on the walls, so I was scared to try color on my walls. A few years ago, my sister-in-law bought me a shade to try in the living room. Before, everything just was so dull in there and I felt like it zapped my energy. My sister-in-law was definitely right that some color in the living room would make the cream-colored fire place "pop". Now, you can actually notice the fireplace when you walk in the room.Paint is such a cheap way to make your house uniquely "you". I actually enjoy being in my house more when it is painted colors that I enjoy. Many Blessings!

Back at the end of June, when I was first pregnant (and didn't know it), I had gotten so tired of the wallpaper that I started ripping it up one day. Once I got into it, I started realizing that it really is a huge project (no matter the size of your kitchen) to rip up wallpaper.(I actually pondered if it was worth it.) Hanging it must have been quite difficult; I cannot imagine why the builders put that hideous stuff on the walls. Also, it was getting to the point that my youngest was ripping a piece of wallpaper, once in a while, so it was getting frustrating to tape wallpaper back on the wall. It took forever to do all of the taping because there are a lot of windows and doorways in my kitchen. It is so nice that it is refreshing, now. ;)
What a difference! You choose a wonderfully soothing color. I remember hearing that green is good for digestion. Is that right? I have seen red in kitchens and though I love red, I wonder if that is suitable for a dining environment. Our whole house is a light ... butternut shade. It's flat paint so pretty dirty now. I think flat paint should be outlawed.
Freida,
Thank you! I love red, too, but I don't think that I could pull it off. It supposedly helps with appetite. Blue supposedly suppresses appetite, but I love it in any room because it is so soothing. I am not sure what green does. I read that green is the most commonly chosen color for people to paint a room of their house. I agree, flat paint should be outlawed! ;) Butternut sounds pretty!
Well...all I can say is...my whole house needs to be blue!! ha!
I absolutely adore the color you've chosen! Green is my absolute favorite color ~ especially shades like that! My kitchen and living room are a color called 'Haystack' with red and green accents. I love the red, but that would explain my eating habits! haha!
Michelle~
You are a riot! The colors you have chosen for your house sound lovely!
Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment!
I LOVE the color of your "new" kitchen!
I noticed you visited my blog and I wanted to drop by and say thanks. Also, you commented that I am "very organized" and I have to say that I used to be. Now, I am just trying to get back some organization, but I have a long way to go... My mess is immense!
I love your makeover. I live in my house for a a few years with all beige walls and I liked it okay, but it was amazing what life a can of paint (of your choosing) can bring to a room. I have two rooms in my house painted in a similar sage green and that color is very soothing.
Lovely! Nice and peaceful.
