Works for me Wednesday
It seems that my oldest two are always hungry for a snack, so what works for me is trying to keep healthy snacks on hand. I like to keep celery, spread with natural peanut butter, in individual baggies for my children. Another healthy snack choice is banana pops. I make these by cutting bananas in half, and inserting a popsicle stick in each one. Then, I dip each one in flavored yogurt, and freeze them on wax paper for a few hours.Freezing bananas actually makes them taste a lot better, in my opinion. You can also dip the banana pops in wheat germ, to make them even healthier. Our family has recently been making popcorn on the stovetop, using coconut oil and our own favorite seasonings to flavor it. We really enjoy coating it with Parmesan cheese. As a healthier alternative to the fruit snacks at the store, it would be great to make homemade fruit leathers. I also love baking a variety of muffins and granola, so that there is always something to snack on. Having prepared treats definitely works for me. For more Works for me Wednesday ideas, go here.
