Frugal Date Ideas
It can be quite expensive to go out to dinner and a movie on your date night with your spouse. Consider some of the following date ideas to save some money.
  • Make dinner at home, and then go to a coffee shop for a delicious coffee drink. Play chess or another game. Take a nice evening stroll.
  • Go out to a restaurant only for dessert. I am always too full for those scrumptious looking desserts when I eat out. What a lovely chance to try a delicious treat.
  • Find a local dollar movie theater. The movies are still relatively new, yet they are considerably cheaper.
  • Pack a picnic dinner and spread out a quilt on a grassy spot in the park. Afterwords, take a walk in the nature trails.
  • Visit a coffee and donut shop, such as Krispy Kreme.
  • Order a savory drink at Joe Muggs or Starbucks inside of Books a Million or Barnes and Noble. Peruse books together while sipping your drinks.
  • Consider having dates at home, see this post for more ideas.

Those are all great ideas! I know what you mean about being too full for desserts! We never get desserts at restuarants!

Thank you for the lovely ideas, Christine. I enjoy having dates at home best of all. I don't like getting babysitters and then wondering if everything is going well. My favorite kind of date is a movie and order pizza. :0)

Christine,
I found your site from Biblical Womanhood and thought it was neat the similarities I found between us. My husband and I have a 3y3mth girl and a 21 month boy. We are expecting on the very last day of December, although I see you're due a bit later! Also, I have been blessed to know Celeste Welch and pray for her daughter, Valerie. We became members this summer of a family integrated church after visiting for over a year. You have a sweet tone to your writing that is pleasant to read. May God richly bless and keep you during this pregnancy and beyond.

That sounds nice! The problem I have with dates at home is when you have a small house and 4 boys, you end up having a family dinner whcih is nice, but never alone time with your husband! I just wish I could feel like I could ask someone to babysit sometimes, but I am ashamed to!
