Ways to provide our household for future seasons:

  1. Plant a fruit/vegetable garden.
  2. Pick in-season fruit at a blueberry, strawberry, or blackberry patch.
  3. Freeze, can, or dehydrate seasonal fruits and vegetables for future months.
  4. Keep an inventory of household supplies.
  5. Maintain a shopping list of household needs.
  6. Make a rotating 2 or 4 week meal schedule and grocery list.
  7. Thaw meats the night before for dinner preparations.
  8. Make and freeze several meals for the future. (especially if you are having a baby soon or for some reason you won't have as much time)
  9. Learn how to make meals with as few processed foods as possible. ( For example, I want to learn how to make a delicious crust for my pot pies rather than the store bought variety. The aluminum in store bought pie crusts is most unhealthy. I also want to learn how to make more broths and creams.)

Any ideas that you can add to this list would be very helpful. May we look well to the ways of our households and not "eat the bread of idleness." (based on Proverbs 31:27) Finding ways to improve our household management can make us more efficient. Let us serve our family heartily today, even as unto the LORD. Let us be as the ant, who is constantly looking towards preparing for tomorrow. (They invaded my kitchen this morning, so I have carefully watched their diligence. Thankfully, they are gone, now.)

What a beautiful little blog you have here. I stumbled upon it by the random act of clicking on "next blog" on the blogger homepage as the title caught my eye.

My daughter and I just watched Pride and Prejudice two nights ago(twice) and we just LOVED it, and now I see you do too! There are several uplifting blogs that I like to stop by now and then when I need to read something nice. I think this one will go on my "uplifting blog" reading list.

So nice to know there are actually people like you out there. God bless you!

Carla,
Welcome and thank you for your kind words!Which Pride and Prejudice version did you see? I have only seen the original A and E version. I would love to see the recent flick too. Please do visit again!

Tori,
I need to master 10 out of 10. (Not a very good ratio, I know) lol

Joy,
Thank you for stopping by. I usually get my pictures at www.AllPosters.com or www.art.com. The pictures I have used recently are actually quite affordable if you want a real print. They have so many treasures.

Tammy,
Thank you!

Wow, I have alot to work on too! I always think before I have my next child that I will freeze meals, but I never do. I always seem to forget to take something out of the freezer the night before!

Your blog has so many great ideas and encouraging things!

I lived in NC 2 years ago for about 2 years. If you are in Fayateville, is your husband in the military? I miss NC, but my hubby hated it there! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Princess Ruby,
Hi and thank you for stopping by again. I think your blog is quite lovely. I love how you share so candidly from your heart.
My husband has lived in Fayetteville since he was a toddler. We are not military, though he is often mistaken as a GI because of his high and tight haircut. (We sometimes get a military discount on things, unbeknownst to us until later. Clerks see his haircut and automatically give him the discount.) He is a computer technician who services printers/computers for the 80 schools in our county. He also has several other clients. He is so efficient that I am simply amazed at his thoroughness and skill.
I hope that you are feeling well and that your day is blessed!

~To All my dear blog friends~
Kelli Wilt, who has the Sparrow's Nest blog recently wrote a blurb about preparing meals in advance. Please check out her blog to find out her experience.I have heard that there is a book about how to make a month's worth of dinners in a day. I think it gives the practical logistics such as what ingredients to buy. This would definitely be interesting to consider buying. Living in hurricane alley (where your power could go out for days), I want to eventually get a propane oven and a deep freeze. Then, if my power goes out, I can still cook a real meal. This would be quite beneficial to my dear family, rather than us feasting on a canned good.
